Finish My Card Collaboration, Part 2

You're the Star

You're the Star

Hi All!

Today is Part 2 of my fun collaboration with Catherine Pooler. This time, she created the beginning elements, then I finished them in today’s video. If you didn’t get a chance to see her create the watercolor circle and stars, check out her blog post, then come back to see me complete the card.

Instead of doing my typical voiceover, I spoke while creating the card. I’m curious to know which method you prefer. Gosh, you’ll realize how much I edit out, lol! Dumb mistakes, forgetting to zoom out, etc. And I know it got a little slow in some places.

I hope you enjoyed our collaboration. It sure was great getting to know Catherine. Don’t you just love meeting new crafters? Card-making just bonds people together so instantly! I love it.

Anyway, enjoy the video and have a great week!

This is GREAT, Darlene! The only thing – when I finished the card – was that the greeting didn’t show up as well as I would have liked. I was so concerned with everything else on the card that I didn’t even really notice that until I was putting it in the envelope. You picked up on that right away and NAILED it! Thansk for collaborating, friend! 😉

Very nice!!! Thanks for doing the collabs! I enjoyed watching/hearing you think out your design process. I couldn’t pick which format I prefer–I’m just grateful that I get to learn what I do from you.

I did enjoy you finishing the card that Catherine started. You took ordinary pieces and made an extraordinary card. Just amazing! The other thing I loved was listening to you talk as you worked. Hearing you think out loud is a great part of teaching. I really appreciate it. Thanks, Darlene.

Awesome job BOTH of you!! I’ve been following both blogs for a while now, so it was really neat to see you guys working together. Loved watching you go through the creative process…you make it look so easy 😉

Well Darlene, I love that you gave more color to the sentiment, the way it was didn’t show up very well at all but you did an amazing job making it pop. You are so brave covering that section with black, since this color really is very unforgiven.
This was a really wonderful collaboration between you and Catherine, it’s so much fun to see the two of you complete each other’s cards. I love the way Catherine water colored that circle, I also liked the way she created the stars. It looks messy but this way you can custom make your glitter. This was a great tip and I’m going to her blog to tell her that.
Thank you both for the inspiration.

What a delight it was to watch both of you gals work together. I will vote for having you talk to us while you are in the creative process. It just seems more “real” to hear what you were thinking at the time. Great work on this card. You were very brave to color black around that greeting! If I had to do that, my hands would be shaking because I would be afraid of messing up.

Darlene, thanks for sharing this 2 part video creating this cute card. What a great idea in having another person contribute an idea to complete it. I think I will bring this idea for our next sizzling meeting.

Darlene, I love how your mind works! I never would have thought to color black around the sentiment and add the black strip behind it. That made the intire card POP! The two of you work very well. together.

Enjoyed the collaborations very much. I liked hearing you think your way through the design and see it all come together. I think I like the voice over better than real time – it seems more professional that way.

I love it!!! I could never have imagined your card how it finished up. It’s gorgeous. I also loved hearing how you came up with the ideas without the VoiceOver. I like it both ways. I am popping over to Catherine’s blog to check hers out now. Also I am not getting your emails now. Do I have to subscribe again? Keep up the good work and thanks so much for sharing.

I can’t believe what you did with the elements Catherine sent you. I learned so much from both of you girls. Watercoloring and also glittering the stars was so helpful to me and it inspired me to try it myself. Darlene, having walk through the creation of the card you were making was so very helpful and inspiring. So different and so much to learn from you beginning to end. Thank you for sharing the complete process with us and I hope you do it again. I absolutely can’t believe the finished card – it is an eye catcher!

What a great idea, loved hearing you go through the creative process. As you put the black on, I cringed thinking, hope it works. I am not sure I would have used the black, just out of fear, but the card was amazing in the end. I also vote hearing you go through the creative process.

Huge fan of yours and I don’t miss a video. Just wanted you to know I really enjoyed the live instead of the voice over. I loved hearing your thought process as you took Katherine’s elements and finished the card…very insightful!! Awesome card!
