I don’t have a lot of bird sets because I am not a big bird fan. But, I got the Bird Banter set by Stampin’ Up! and I love these birds! I used it last week on this card. Today, I’m using a different image from the set.

Bird Challenge

The video is short because this is a really easy card to put together. If you don’t have this die set, you could certainly adapt the design with stamps similar to the Lawn Fawn Scripty Sayings.

Here is a close-up:

Enjoy the video. I’m look forward to seeing your creations! 🙂

Hi everyone! I’ve made a card like this in the past-but recently, I decided to remake this card for a shoebox swap and had to cut out enough pieces for 18! I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to do that bc it was a lot of work!!! Anyway-there are also two matted panels in the inside-one blank for writing and one silhouette on the inside (in black) of the image on the front. I didn’t blog about it this time but you can find the post on my blog if you’re interested in seeing the original card.
Bird Birthday Party.JPG
Bird Birthday Party.JPG
I have been coloring these birds for a few days, then saw a video with Simon Says Stamp where Nina turned her birds into a birthday party. I stamped hats, balloons, even a bow tie, to turn these colorful birds into a party. This is the front of the card. I used four Paper Smooches stamps on this card: Chilly Chums, Hallaballoo, Noggin Toppers, Baby Birds. I used Arteza Real Brush Pens to color the elements, then added gel pens, and a glitter pen. This has turned into a fun card that I will mail to my brother in a couple of weeks for his birthday. Even as he is nearing age 59, he will still enjoy this fun card. Thanks for looking! Lisa K.

Here is the inside of the Bird Birthday Party card. I heat embossed the sentiment, but forgot to wait for the glue to dry under the bird, so it got a bit of embossing powder that stuck to the glue. I decided it would work and sure didn't want to begin again. I had fun creating this card. Thanks for looking! Lisa K.

This set is new, so I had to add it to this challenge. It is from Unity called Lift Me Up Birdies. I saw the coloring idea on Kraft on the Unity site, so I took the inspiration and colored the birds white. The hat colors are from a Split Coast Stamp challenge, so they are a light blue, light green, and a light purple. Everything is colored in Prismacolor pencils. The sentiment is from All About You set, from Cas-ual Friday stamps. Kind of fun to create. Thanks for looking!

Hummingbird with Colorbursts
I used a new stamp set called Mindscapes from Inkadinkado. I really like the hummingbird and chose to use emboss resist. I colored the images with Colorbursts in the Caribbean Brights set. The flower is colored with Fushia and Tangerine. The hummingbird is colored with Turquoise and Orchid. I blotted a lot of color off after I added the water. I used a lot of water! The paper is Ranger Watercolor Paper which seemed to be the best I have used with learning Colorbursts. The sentiment is from a set called Faith

I used The Stamps of Life flamingos2stamp and patterns4flamingos sets for this card. The idea was taken from the postcard they send with each members sets. I added a few more layers, but the basic design came from TSOL. I began with Hero Arts Cup of Joe ink for the tree trunk and Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus for the palm fronds. I came back and used Zig Clean Color markers to add a bit more color and shading to the trees. The flamingo was colored with Zig Clean Color markers as well and a waterbrush. It has been a while since I have stamped with the flamingo. It was fun to color. Thanks for looking!

I had prepared a panel with a few colors sponged onto it, then stamped a BG with versamark ink and THoltz perfect pearls powder on the image. The birdie is the old punch from SU! The metallic thread across the bottom and a few leaves on the top left finish it off. TFL

This bird is from the set Best Birds which is still current in the Australian SU! catalogue. A friend of mine lent me the stamp, but I think I should order one, as I really like it now. I colored it with copics, cut it with my SNCut machine. Added a "nest" with a few strands of metallic thread and adhered onto a black mat. TFL

I drew the stitching line by hand, colored the birds with copics and adhered a flower which was hand made by a friend in Mexico using a home made paste of some sort. I used SU! pastels to sponge the sky. TFL
A CASE from Darlene's gorgeous card
A CASE from Darlene's gorgeous card
Darlene, I hope you don't mind me uploading my effort at CASING your most beautiful card. As I don't own the Happy celebrations set, I used an alphabet set and used white gel pen to draw lines across the letters so they wouldn't stand out too much. I handwrote the sentiment. Love this bird and the way you colored it. Thanks for the inspiration!
Peaceful Birdies
Peaceful Birdies
In this card I'm using the other piece of panel that I used in one of my previous cards. I love this bird house and I'm glad of this challenge so I could get them out and use them. The stitched rectangle that I used as a mat wasn't the right size, so I moved the panel in the big shot to shorten it a bit and it worked well. TFL

Rescuing a time-consuming piece
I decided to use my inktense pencils to color these birds. Of course, I managed to mess up, adding too dark of a color around one of the birds while trying to create a little shadow. In order to disguise that, I pulled out my Brushos to try to color the background. Needless to say, I am still very new at this. I know many can relate to spending a lot of time on something and then have something go terribly wrong and you do your best to make lemonade!

This challenge is going to be fun, fun.

So adorable. . . I’ll have to look through my stamps and see if an idea comes to me. Thank you.

You make it look so easy, somehow when I try something like this it doesnt line up as well or easily. I noted you took time to really butt it up against the edges so maybe I’m rushing it too much to keep the glue viable.
will give this one a go on the weekend. Looking forward to the “birdie” challenge.

Simple card but so effective. Look forward to the Bird Challenge. Had to laugh though at the turquoise blue cockatoo. These birds are usually white with yellow or sometimes pink. But I just discovered there are the occasional blue ones although they are so rare that few have ever been seen. The cockatoo on your card is one of those very rare ones. Ha! Ha! Here’s a short YouTube of a real blue cockatoo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoTEll8Phhg Hope you have a super fun weekend, Darlene!

I am excited about this challenge. I pulled out many of my bird images and made a list. I have way too many, but I love bird stamps. Love the coloring of your bird. I enjoy coloring birds that may not look real.
