Hi All!
I hope you’re having an enjoyable holiday season. I can’t believe December is upon us!
Today’s card is simple but elegant. My only color is Evergreen Bough Distress Ink. Here is a close-up:
I found something interesting about watercolor paper while making this card. In my first version, I used Canson XL, which is my usual go-to paper. It’s very white and very thin. So, when it warps from the water, I can adhere it to a thicker cardstock and it will take the shape of the thicker cardstock.
For my video-recorded version, I wanted a thicker paper so I decided to use Ranger watercolor cardstock. It’s really the only other bright white watercolor paper I own, and I needed bright white because it is matted against a white card base.
With my Canson XL version, the watercolor pools up a lot and dries in place. It doesn’t absorb as much water because it is thin. Because the water lies there and dries in place, it dilutes the color a bit. As a result, I spent a lot more time adding more and more color. In addition, it doesn’t create a nice, dark watercolor line on the edges. However, with the thicker Ranger paper, the water absorbs quickly. So, although there isn’t a lot of water movement, the color stays darker, and you get a really pretty edge. Here is a photo that compares the two (Canson on the left and Ranger on the white):
Hope you found that interesting. Enjoy the video and your last day of November!

I LOVE this card! It truly stands out, elegance in simplicity. I’ve toyed with the idea of Christmas Wishes Stamp set and this sealed the deal. I love your style Darlene! Happy Belated Thanksgiving and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Wow! Simple to make, but the final effect is beautiful! One more idea for my cards this year. Thanks.

I can see where this card would be easy-ish to mass produce. Might take a little more time than if you were just stamping and/or die cutting, but you could still make at least a few at once. Love the depth of color you got, and the tone-on-tone snowflakes. Great splatter effect, too. Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful weekend! 🐱 ~ Andrea

Thanks again for the inspiration. This card technique could also be used with other sentiments and Distress colours. So it is very versatile and unique and doesn’t seem too difficult to achieve.

LOVE IT! I am behind on my cards this year. Have been searching for inspiration for a fast, simple card to mass produce, since I have 40 cards to make. So I think I’ll do a test sample. TFS!!
