Dooooooog Slider Card

Dog Slider

Hi All!

Today’s card is a slider that is really easy to make. It reveals the sentiment when you extend it out:

Dog Slider

I tried to make it work with the dies that every brand has for creating sliders, but trying to extend the dog with one of those was getting way too complicated. I ended up having all these tedious instructions with specific measurements. I finally cut my losses, scrapped everything and started over with a simple slider boxed in with scotch foam tape.

I think the dies are great for pulling something along – I’ll try it that way in a future card.

I actually bought the Doggy Kisses set because of the dog with the cone, but I kept seeing this hotdog dog getting longer and longer in my head and couldn’t resist. Enjoy!

Cute card, Darlene. I’m sure the recipient will love it. I must look through my stash and see if I have something that could be used in a similar way.

Love your card, especially how you extended the dog image–really goes with the greeting! Just makes me giggle, and I’m not even a dog person at all. Something else you can use to help get twine through holes like that is a dental floss threader. You can get them at a pharmacy where they have the toothpastes. I got a package of (I think) 25 for just a couple of dollars. The funny thing is, I saw the exact same product in a fabric store, marketed as “needle threaders,” for about twice what I’d paid at the pharmacy! LOL Anyway, I love the slider element on your card, Darlene! Thanks for sharing all the instructions & measurements with us. 🙂 ~ Andrea

This is just fabulous, the colouring looks fantastic against the white and the green.
You manage to make the difficult easy and also show that if you don’t want the dies it can still be achieved. Thankyou for your inspiration Darlene ?

I like this card and how you did it. I remember cards like this from the 60’s and 70’s from Hallmark and in the card stores but I haven’t seen one in ages! Thanks for making me smile and bringing back memories.
