Hi All!
Concord and 9th released some new interlocking word dies. They are very cool! BUT, I wanted to see if I could use a regular word die to do something similar. With not too much effort, you can!
I used three word dies from the Stampin’ Up! Hello You set. Here is the first one, Thanks:
The word unlocks in the middle to reveal the inside message, which I created with the Neat & Tangled Journaling Alphas:
Here is the card partially closed so you can see how the die connects:
I also created a card with the Happy die from the set:
And the Hello die:
Here is a close-up of how I connected each of the dies, in case you decide to try this on your own:
Don’t forget that today is the last day for the August Challenge. I’ll be back tomorrow with an August challenge gift certificate winner, honorable mentions, and the September Challenge launch!
Enjoy the video. 🙂

What an effective card, Darlene. I will have a look at my dies and see what I might have that will work. I also like the tip you’ve given before about lining up the letters of your words, holding them in place with masking tape,, and then gluing them down. I now do this and it really works!

Darlene you are so creative. Wonderful to use word dies in a new way.

Wow! I had seen someone use those Concord dies, and I would have never figured out a way to do that with dies I already owned, but now I can – thanks to you!!! Very creative and not too terribly difficult. Thanks for sharing with us!!

Woo Hoo!! I have a set of 4 word Holiday dies, Love, Peace, Joy, Merry. I’m sure I can use at least 3 of them, the word Joy is to short.
How clever and fabulous Darlene, thank you for sharing this fantastic idea and video.
Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.

This is so neat, Darlene! Thank you for taking the time not only to figure all this out, but to show us as well! 🙂 I would say the only thing that would keep me from doing this myself is if I couldn’t be there when the recipient opens it. I can just see them ripping the die cut word trying to open the card the “regular” way, without unlocking the die cuts. I always feel I have to be on hand to “instruct” how to open an interactive card! LOL A tip for picking up die cuts like you did with the masking tape. You can also use a small piece of Glad Press ‘n Seal. This is great especially for die cuts that may be smaller than the width of your tape, since it’s clear and you can see everything right through it! You can find it in with the plastic wrap & foil in any grocery store. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing your cards! 🙂 ~ Andrea
