Hi All,
First I want to say that if we have any members in Houston, my heart and my prayers go out to you. You are in my thoughts. Several people have asked about me and my family. I live in Dallas, which is about 4 hours north of Houston. We are just experiencing some rain – nothing unusual. I appreciate your concern! 🙂
Onto the card…I decided I needed a fresh set of flower stamps. After some deliberating, I chose Totally Tropical by Altenew. It has multi-step stamps but also an outline so that I can color them if I want.
It was extra work to do all the masking to get these flowers on the same level. After my first version of it, I was going to stamp, cut, and layer the next version. But, I just love how all the flowers look so pretty against each other when masked. So, I masked them again. There are several details I added to each flower with black and white pens, which I think make these flowers even more beautiful. Here is a close-up of the details – there is one mistake, can you see it?
Enjoy the video!

I loved watching you design and stamp the images before doing all the details. It really is a very pretty card for someone special. And, yes, I saw the “mistake”. But, II thought it could also be explained away by saying that the large flower’s petals are translucent and so you can see the yellow petal through them. Makes sense, doesn’t it?! I won’t tell if you won’t. Ha! Ha!

This is an absolutely beautiful card. Adding finishing details is something I struggle with. Would it be possible for you to do a video showing a card made “as is” with stamps and then with added details and maybe give some tips on when to add and when to stop. Thanks for your wonderful videos!

Wow so much going on with this one. Such a pretty card and it will make someone smile very wide when they get it.
Those small additions really make it pop thanks for the ideas and glad you are all ok there in Dallas.

Dear Darlene: I’m so happy you and your family are ok, it’s amazing how 4 little hours away from Huston makes such a big difference. I’m also thinking of all of those people who have lost so much, my heart and thoughts go out to them.
We have donated to the Red Cross, wish we could do more.
Thank you for this awesome video and beautiful card, love all the detail on each flower and leaf.
Big Hugs,
Maria.

I have to know. Is it the large pink flower in the middle that has no black flicks on the bottom right?
darlene
Hi Myra. The same large pink flower is in the lower right. I didn’t make the black flicks where it was going to be behind the Neenah panel.

Nope…didn’t see it until you mentioned it, then I went back to your photo and noticed it…barely! Love the details, they really add to this card. I have a flower stamp set from Altenew so I will try this! 😎

I notice you don’t use the magnets with the MISTI. Is there a special reason for that? Beautiful card!! I have dear friends in Houston, as well as Corpus Christi/Rockport area. We vacation in Port Aransas as often as we can. My prayers are with them all 🙁
darlene
Hi Carole. I’ve had a history of never using my magnets – just because I was lazy. But, I started using them more recently and they are quite handy, lol!
Cheryl
Love this card! So beautiful! And the details really made a difference.

Sorry I haven’t been commenting on here lately. I can’t believe how many e-mail’s I get and a lot of them are from card making sites! I love it but sometimes I don’t get to see them all and then they pile up. I hate that!
So glad to hear that you aren’t in the eye of the storm. We had a horrible storm like this in CT in 1955. I was a year old and we had to move to higher ground as we were on a flat street. My grandfather didn’t want to go, he wanted to stay and protect his store and house. We finally got him to go to friends up on a hill. It was horrible and lots of people lost their homes, businesses, and their lives because they didn’t want to leave their homes. It’s an anniversary of that flood this year and thankfully we’ve never had another one like it. I pray for everyone in Texas. Now on to your card.
If you didn’t point out your mistake and I didn’t really look hard, I would not have found it. However, I make cards so maybe that’s why I found it. I’m willing to bet my mom wouldn’t have noticed the mistake even if you told her there was one. Does that make you feel better? It does me! LOL I love all your colors especially my favorite, yellow, and I give you bonus points for using it! I love Altenew mostly because I have been winning prizes on their blog hops! I hardly ever win anything and this year I’ve won 3 times on Altenew! I love their stamps and got some great things from them. Your card is beautiful and I know the person who gets it will love it!

What a lovely card Darlene. Pretty full-on to make but worth it and certainly a card for somebody special.
Myra
Went back and watched again. Now I get it but it took awhile. You are an incredible artist. I love this stamp set. I hadn’t seen it. My husband and I are praying for your great state of Texas. We live 5 miles off the ocean on the east coast and this terrifies me especially since I am home bound for a while. Let’s all pray like we’ve never prayed before for our country.
Bertie
A beautiful card. I would be afraid to add all the details I learn every time I watch you.Thank you.

Love Altnew stamps! Love the details you put it with the black micron marker and the white gel pen.
So glad you were not in the storm area. I kept thinking of you…… My prayers to them. I guess we couldn’t send cards because they in disaster zone. Wish we could control our weather.
