Hi All!
I’m watercoloring with my distress markers today. It has been awhile since I did this – I forgot how easy it is!
I used the Magnolias for Her set by Altenew. I’ve had this set for a very long time, and I don’t think I’ve ever used it! It’s actually a great flower set for coloring.
Enjoy the video and I wish everyone a blessed Easter. 🙂

I really love this card. Funnily enough, I too have this stamp set and haven’t used it. So now I will definitely do so. I also haven’t used my Distress Markers in a long time. The last time I used them, so many had dried out that it frustrated me. But, this card only requires a few colours. So I should be okay. In future, I plan to buy Distress Markers only when I know I am going to use them right away because they seem to dry out fairly quickly. At least that’s what has happened to me. Enjoy your weekend. Our Good Friday in Australia is almost finished while yours has only just begun!
Sheila
You can use the ranger spray ink refresher on the distress markers as well as the distress ink pads to refresh them.
Connie
Oh thank you so much. I’ll do that. So very helpful!
Sheila
Just to clarify to make sure you get the right stuff…it is the Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Refresher it comes in a small spray bottle & you can buy it on Amazon for 7 or 8 dollars I think. Hope this helps.
Connie
Hi Sheila! I realised I had some of this spray for my Distress Ink. I am going to try it today on my dry markers too. Thanks so much for thinking of me!
Connie
An update Sheila. It worked on the markers that were a little dry but I had 2 dead soldiers that nothing would survive so I’ve had to replace them with new ones. I also noticed some of my tips are frayed. Hope they get better material for the tips. I have no problem with the tips of my Copic or Zig markers.
Sheila
Glad to hear that it at least worked on some of them. I found that you really have to make sure the caps click in place on those, there is a little black band around them if that is showing at all the cap is not all the way on. I know this from experience lol. I thought I was pretty diligent about it but I recently found a couple of mine that were a little dry & sure enough I hadn’t gotten the cap on. Which is how I knew the spray actually worked. I haven’t really had any issues with the tips on the distress markers but I have noticed this issue with a couple of Tombow markers that I use almost extensively to color stamps.
Connie
I used my Distress markers a lot when I first started cardmaking and was much too heavy handed back then. I probably pressed down too hard. I’ve learned too that you’ve got to close the markers tightly until you hear the click. I probably didn’t do that initially. I reckon that’s my main problem with the ones that dried out. Fortunately most of them are still okay though.

Lovely card, Darlene!

I wasn’t sure I would like the gray background but it makes the flowers pop! I don’t have that set, but I am sure I can find some flower stamps that will work. Happy Easter!

Love, love this card Darlene…that background sets it off…thanks for the tutorial.
Cheryl
I love the watercoloring you did on this card. I’ve never had much luck with using the Distress markers but your card makes me want to try again. I wonder if using the Ranger watercolor paper is the key? Anyway, I’ll have to try using them again.
Happy Easter Darlene and everyone on this site!

Lovely colors in the flowers, and I really like the design! I was thinking, the Twisted Citron may be a very apropos color for magnolias, as well as the Squeezed Lemonade. Even though the flowers are generally white, they would reflect the green from the leaves, so the green flower is quite realistic. And, they tend to have a warm tone in the petals anyway, hence the yellow. Anyway, I hope y’all have a wonderful Easter, too, Darlene! Mama & I went to a nearby city this afternoon so she could go to Good Friday service at her church. The traffic (especially around the mall & Wal Mart) was AWFUL! Gee–you think Easter is in just a couple of days??? LOL This was at least as bad as Christmas Eve, if not worse. 😛 Take care! 😺 ~ Andrea

Love, love, love this card Darlene. That background looks fantastic. A short time ago, I too, like Connie, discovered that some of my Distress Markers have dried out. I will certainly be making one of this card.
Sheila
I replied to Connie’s comment above…but in case you don’t see it, you can use the Ranger spray ink refresher on your distress markers to “refresh” them.
Glenismaree
Oh Sheila, thank you so much for that information I will go get some Ranger spray ink to “refresh them”.
Sheila
I just want to make sure you get the right thing…it is the Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Refresher that comes in a little spray bottle. You can get it on Amazon. I hope that helps. I used it on mine.

I am sorry that my description of the Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Refresher was a bit vague but I do have the correct name now and have been watching videos on it and it looks to be very interesting apart from “refreshing” distress markers. Thank you so much Sheila for going to so much trouble to steer me in the right direction. …Glenis (Australia)

You come up with the best tips and designs. I love this card.

Lovely card! Darlene, have you ever tried using GLAD “PRESS & SEAL” instead of masking tape to hold your die cuts together while you work on another part of your card? It’s see-through so it’s easier to see where your die-cuts are. Many YouTube videos on how to use it. The fun fact is that it was invented by Jennifer McGuire’s husband a very long time ago. They doesn’t get any royalties, by the way..just in case anyone is wondering…

I absolutely love this card Darlene!
