Hi All!
I have a special talent. I know exactly how to spend a bunch of money on crafty items right before they go on sale. Does anyone else have this talent? Simon Says Stamp is having a 15 year anniversary sale – 15% off sitewide with code HAPPY584, now through 2/18. Ellen Huston is having 20% off all stamps with code HEARTSTAMPS18. I literally received my Ellen Hutson package yesterday and my Simon Says Stamp package today. Why?? I’m actually super excited about the stamps I got… this, this, this, this and this. I know what I’ll be doing this weekend! Anyway, on to the cards…
Today’s cards are just as much about color selection as design. It can be hard to choose colors that work well together, even if they are different shades/tones of the same color. I followed a formula for all three of these cards, which I show at the beginning of the video.
Once you have your colors picked, the rest is easy. Enjoy!!

Well, I wouldn’t get too fussed about missing out on these sales. They really aren’t a huge savings anyway. And you can have some fun this weekend playing with your new purchases. I especially like the MFT Bird stamp set but then I am really into birds right now (smile). I’m waiting for my Hero Arts Love Birds set to arrive as the parrots look like a pair that come into our yard to feed each day. As for your card, I think this is a super way to use up card-stock scraps. With the right colours, they would make good masculine cards too. The black card-stock positioned slightly North of the white card-stock in the word die is such a good tip. Thanks so much for that!

I like Gerda Steiner Designs stamps. I have purchased a few direct from her using my Amazon account. It is very easy and I do not pay shipping direct through her. She doesn’t charge shipping for US customers. I like today’s card idea. I may give it a try soon.

I always order at the end of the month in. case there is a sale with EH. I ordered the MFT chicks yesterday too! So much fun!!!

Happy Friday, everyone! Thanks Darlene for the color selection tips! You are not the ONLY one who buys just before the sale. I don’t get too excited about15 or 20%, it’s hardly worth it. MFT just had a sale, but it didn’t apply to new stuff so I didn’t buy anything, rats!! LOVE the cards. Happy weekend crafting.

That would be me. I order and then a few minutes later get an email for a sale. I decided to make a list of what I want and try not to order unless I get some sort of discount. Sometimes I just can’t wait though.

I had to laugh at your description of your “talent”! I rarely have that problem, since I generally wait FOR a sale or coupon code before I shop. LOL I can be patient that way! I like how these cards came out, Darlene. The color combinations are perfect, and thank you for sharing your method for choosing colors. Thanks also for the reminder about the sales. I did pick up the “Arctic Pals” stamp set from EH just now. I know 20% off isn’t much, but my thinking is, it’s still better than paying full-price. Especially since they & Simon Says Stamp don’t generally offer that big a discount. Anyway, thank you for sharing your talents with us! Hope you have a great weekend! 😺 ~ Andrea

Thanks for letting us know about the sales, Darlene. Like Andrea, I wait for a sale as postage is costly to Australia, so I have just spent time and money making up an order which I’m calling the order of 2018. It saved me almost all the postage, and to me that’s worth it!

WOW!! Darlene, these cards are GORGEOUS!!! Love the color combinations you created, I have no idea how you did this but I love it.
This is a great way to use your scraps of card stock to create some amazing backgrounds.
Thank you for sharing and also, for the sales notices, they are so hard to resist, sigh!!
Hugs,
Maria.
