Hi All!
More snow today! This time I used the Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow stencil and some embossing paste, topped with Wow Sparkling Snow embossing powder. I was trying to go for an unconventional kind of holiday card. I only used one color (green), to make it look really clean. Here is a close-up of the sparkle:
Maybe I’m just getting older, but when I see a close-up photo of my coloring, it’s not very clean! I’d much rather see what I’m allowed to see with my naked eye, haha! One thing that I realized after it was all over is that my light source on the tree was actually coming from the wrong direction. I should have colored the tips of the tree light green and the thin parts dark green. The good part about my cards is that most people I send them to aren’t noticing such things. 🙂
I’m still thinking about my family holiday card. By some miracle, I think I may have a family photo for it from our vacation last week!
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I liked the card because it’s not the usual Christmas card which makes it stand out from all the rest. Besides the card, thanks too for the tip about the glitter cloth. What a great little thing to have!

I love this fun card… and the stamp set is so darn cute! Your glitter cloth reminds me of a tack cloth to remove sawdust… I think I have one in the garage somewhere… need to try that! And, I still need to get the Absorber cloth!
Andrea
I had the same thought about tack cloth. What Darlene showed looks just like that. Guess great minds think alike! 🙂 I also highly recommend the Absorber. One thing, though. I washed mine in the laundry (the package says you can do this), but after that, it had kind of a urine smell to it. Ugh! After trying to wash it with dish soap, I finally had to throw it out and cut a new piece. Thankfully, you don’t need the whole thing at once, so I still have plenty left. So I don’t think I’d recommend laundering it! Another tip: if you don’t want to pay shipping, just go by an auto supply store. I got mine at Autozone. ~ Andrea

Thanks for the Auto zone tip. Love the card Darlene!

I have always been able to see the videos up till the the last two…roses, and the clean fun one. Now they say I don’t have the right setup….is it me or has setup changed?
Darlene DeVries
Bernice, I’m so happy you mentioned that. Yes, I had to use a workaround in VIMEO for the last two videos because their site had a problem. Everything looked the same to me, so I thought it was fine. Since VIMEO has since solved the problem, I just replaced those two videos with the video settings I usually use. Please check again and let me know if you are able to view them now.

Guess what?! I tried your video on my mini pad instead of my bigger iPad, which is older, and it worked just fine! I am so glad. My son has told me before that my iPad is older and I should rely more on the mini, so now I know why! Anyway, I am happy, and loved t he Christmas video….looking forward to many more great ideas. Thanks so much.

No, I just tried it and it still says unable to use this setup. Wonder what is wrong now.

hi there! I love your card. I was having problems seeing and thought it was my age. I had started feeling frustrated and would notice things after a card was done that I didn’t notice when I was doing it. I went to the eye doctor and found out I had dry eyes. he started me on some over the counter drops and gel and I cant tell you what a difference it has made. and he also gave me an rx for new reading glasses. he didn’t think it would help much, but i’m a new person. I got the antiglare coating and it really has helped me also. I use the computer a lot and craft a lot and now I can see really well. no more headaches, tired eyes and love level aggravation. the car going up the hill was so cute. thanks for all that you do for us. , treen

I was thinking this card would be perfect for older stamp sets like SU! Loads of Love, if’n ya didn’t have this new set. I really like that “snow” glitter you used…wow, it’s purdy!!! I got my tack cloth at the hardware store, well hubby actually did and yeah, they do last a looooooonnnnnnng time. Isn’t it funny how quite a bit of papercrafting supplies can be found at the hardware store??! :b Thanks Darlene for another super video!! =)

So sweet winter Christmas card Darlene ! Love your technique and the stamps set that I have purchased at EH , Looove your snow !

Cute card. One tip I learned from Jennifer McGuire’s videos is to use a Swiffer cloth to clean up glitter. You can even cut them into smaller pieces. They work amazingly well, even when wiping away a lot of excess glitter left over on the card after burnishing it in to adhesive.
