Clean and Simple Butterfly

CAS Butterfly

Hi All!

Today’s card is mostly white, but it has a lot of different textures and elements… vellum, pearls, ribbon, stitching. I realized that I don’t have a lot of butterfly stamps. I pulled out my old Hero Arts Antique Engravings set. I bet a lot of you have this set – it was so popular for a long time. I don’t think you can get it anywhere other than eBay now.

I colored the butterfly with Prisamcolor pencils. Here is a close-up:

I rarely make a card without a sentiment, but I didn’t want to disrupt the white with a sentiment. If you wanted to incorporate one, I would probably set it just underneath the butterfly. I will probably use this card as a simple note card.

Enjoy the video and have a great weekend!

This would make a wonderful sympathy card to send to a close friend where you want to write a personal message inside. I don’t have that stamp set but think I might have a similar butterfly stamp by Hero Arts in another later set of theirs. I loved the dimensional effect you achieved by usng that black pencil. Very effective! the Stampin Up ribbon and pearls on the quilted vellum all came together so well. Have a great weekend.

Beautiful soft card, I agree having no sentiment works for this. Loved the tip about the black on the butterfly it really pops it.

I really love how you colored the butterfly, Darlene! You’re right–that black really adds depth to the wings. Great simple design, too. I agree with Connie–this would make a nice sympathy card, especially with the butterfly image. Thanks so much for sharing, and have a wonderful weekend! 😺 ~ Andrea

Love this card and love that you used a classic stamp set. I have this set and used that particular butterfly so many times back when I first bought it. I need to pull it back out and start using it again.
