Hi All,
I think most people at this point have their cards done and are moving on to things like gift tags. I usually make my own tags, but I was not very motivated this year to create the tags. I noticed last year that many people didn’t even look at the tag! How dare they ignore my efforts and creativity! 🙂
This year, I’m giving people a reason to look at the tag – it will have something they want… candy. These tags are tiny boxes that perfectly hold a Ghiradelli square. You could also put a Hershey bite-size or two.
I made the boxes with my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board (find a review of the punch board HERE).
My box is 2 1/4″ x 2 3/8″ x 3/8″. When you watch the video you will see that there are two punch board measurements for every box… this box is 2″ and 2 3/8″. You can increase the depth of the box by changing the second measurement of the box, from 2 3/8″ to 2 1/2″ or 2 5/8″, etc. Here is the empty box:
I also created several gold and kraft tags:
I mainly created these tags to hang on gift bags, where they will hang upright. I realized afterward that attaching them to a present may cause the candy to slide out. To fix this, add a little glue dot to the back of the candy before sliding it in.
I hope this inspires you to create some of your own tags this year! Merry Christmas!!

Cute tags! And I agree that before the recipient opens their gift, they will probably stop now to look at the tag since there’s candy inside. Only just today I was thinking of getting an envelope punch board. I’ve received a few Christmas cards this year with hand-made envelopes and matching liners. So I decided it would be good idea to learn how to make matching envelopes to go with some of my special cards. Maybe you could give us a video tutorial on how to make envelopes with liners in 2017!

I absolutely love this! Was stressing over what to give out to co-workers since funds are limited this year and this is perfect! Just a little something that they’ll definitely appreciate. Great idea, Darlene!

CUTE tags and I can think of other small items to go inside. My granddaughter LOVES colorful band aids and they would work well, also. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing, I think I will go and get some of those chocolates and make a bunch of them this weekend.
Big hugs, my dear.

Funny, Darlene, I always make my tags & no one ever notices either! Your tags are a great idea which I think I’ll try. Merry Christmas to you & your family.

I had to laugh (scoff, really) at your “We’re probably all done with Christmas cards” comment. I was teaching 7 college classes this semester — who has time for card-making?? Grades should be submitted on Friday and then I’m done! (The life of an adjunct professor. Oy!) THEN I can start making my cards. I think this year, tho’, they will be tag-ish cards — they can keep, hang on a tree, or use them as a tag next year. lol

You are the best! Had to immediately get an envelope maker, 2 sided Christmas paper, and candy – but worth it. So easy, will make at least 2 dozen. Thanks so much. Best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas and wishing you good health and all the best in the New Year.

What a great tag idea! These would also make cute ornaments for a Christmas tree for a kids party. Each child could take an ornament or two home as a favor.
