Hi All,
I absolutely LOVE this holiday sentiment from Simon Says Stamp. I wanted to make it really special, so I figured out a way to create a galaxy burst of light. I used my Color Burst Powders and a credit card. You could use also try this with watercolors (Gansai Tambi would probably work the best if you have them), but I’m not sure you’ll get it as dark as mine. Here is a close-up of the rays and the gold sentiment:
It’s starting to feel like Christmas. Enjoy the video!

Oh I really love that sentiment too. And your card is absolutely magnificent. You’ve really inspired me to get out my colour bursts again and have a play with them. Did you hear about the credit card technique or come up with it yourself? It’s certainly very clever and effective.

I came up with the credit card idea myself. However, it’s possible someone else has done it – I just haven’t seen it.
Connie
Well, it’s both clever and effective!

Stunning card. I can’t wait to try this technique.

Love the effect you got with the Color Burst powder colors!!! And the credit card idea is genius for creating a starburst look. I don’t have Color Bursts or Brushos or anything like that, but may try something like this with my watercolors. Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂 ~ Andrea

I highly recommend both. They are absolutely the same quality and give the same effect. So whichever is the best price is the way to go. Youlll love using them and watercolours can’t get the same effect.

I forgot to say, there is another way of embossing cardstock like you did for the greeting. If you’re embossing the whole piece, create a handle by temporarily adhering the piece you’re embossing to the end of a strip of cardstock or chipboard. I think the chipboard would be better, just because it’s stiffer. Then you can hold the strip at the other end, either with your fingers or tweezers, and melt the embossing powder with your heat tool. This way, the tweezers don’t mess up the embossing where they are clamped on to the cardstock with the embossing powder. Hope this makes sense. I’ve seen a couple of people do it on YouTube–this is not my original idea! 🙂 ~ Andrea

What a beautiful card and I love the sentiment! I am so excited at all the sentiments that are Christmas or Religious. People are so upset when God is mentioned and I’m so glad to see more companies using his name in stamps. This is one heck of a beautiful card! I can’t do the technique but I love how you did it.
