Black Marker Highlighting

Zig Black Highlighting

Hi All!

Today’s cards are so quick and easy that I made five of them! The secret ingredient is the black Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pen. I applied it onto the stamp after inking it up and it really made these butterflies stand out.

The butterfly is from Watercolor Wings and is actually pretty darn big. It’s 3 1/8″ wide and 2″ tall. I’ve used this set on THIS CARD and THIS CARD. There are three stamps for it, but I only used two.

All the sentiments came from Altenew’s You Are, which I have been using like it’s going out of style. 🙂

My favorite is the one with Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers:

Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade:

Cracked Pistachio and Evergreen Bough:

Shaded Lilac and Dusty Concord:

And finally, the one I created in the video, Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple:

I created my splatters with the black palette in my Gansai Tambi set. I love this paint for splatters because it goes on very opaque and doesn’t fade as it dries. It also has kind of a shiny finish. Did you know you can buy individual palettes? Both Simon Says Stamp and Ellen Hutson sell them individually for $2.50 each.

I will be sending these cards to the foster care graduates. Enjoy!

Awesome butterfly cards, Darlene. I’m excited I have all of the supplies. I can’t pick a favorite as they are all great color combinations. These would make a nice gift set also.

Watercolor Wings is one of my very favourite stamp sets. Last time I looked only a few days ago this stamp set was in the weekly specials at Stampin Up Australia and probably everywhere else. There’s a big saving. These cards would make a wonderful boxed gift set in different colours and with different sentiments. Thanks as always for giving us another easy but effective card design.

Oh Darlene, how gorgeous are this cards!!! my favorite is the bright pink one, just so beautiful.
I also made 6 cards for the Foster Children’s Charities and I will send them on Monday, I wanted to do it today but I just couldn’t get to the post office in time and I missed my mail lady whens he drove by.
This stamp set was overlooked by me and I hope it still available, you just gave me a good kick in the pants for not getting it earlier.
Thank you so much for always inspire us and challenge us to enjoy this craft.

Beautiful cards, Darlene! Just wondering if there is a reason you chose to use the Zig black marker rather than the black soot Distress marker?

I used the Zig because I knew it would be the best at blending, since it’s actually watercolor. You could try it with the Black Soot – I’m sure you would still get a good effect with that.
