Basketweave Chicken

Hi All!

One of my stranger blog post titles. Today’s card was really easy and fun. I absolutely love this Basketweave die by Taylored Expressions. Here is a close-up of the final background:

One note about the weaving process for my fellow perfectionists. The photo above is my first version of this card. The second version I created in the video has the orange weave starting “under” instead of “over” the red at the corner. I think it looks better when you start “over”. I didn’t even realize the difference until I was taking photos.

Believe it or not, they installed the countertops in my new craft room! However, they promptly covered them with paper before I could even see them! Paint is next and they wanted to protect them. I get it, but man I was dying to see them! Patience is a virtue.

Enjoy the video and have a great weekend!

Very cute… and it does remind you of making potholders, doesn’t it? I can see lots of uses for this die! Thanks, Darlene. Can’t wait to see your craftroom!

Such a cute card! I have a silly question please. I know you mentioned it in a previous video but I can’t remember which one. Where did you get the ruler you used here please? Thanks!

Hi Lee. I got the ruler at Staples.

Love the background you created for your card, and the coloring on the chicken & hay. When you mentioned the potholder loom, it reminded me of one I had when I was a kid. I don’t think I ever made any potholders, but I used to use the hook that came with it to play dentist. LOL (Kind of like the tool the dentist uses to scrape your teeth.) I was an oddly creative child, for sure! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing your artistry, Darlene, and bringing up my memory!

Awesome card! I love that basket weave die! <3 I have a sentiment that says "Chicken in to say hello" that would be perfect for this card, too! Thanks for sharing!! =)

Darlene – I have been so busy since I went back to work that I haven’t had time to watch all your videos and hope to catch up over the holiday. I love this little chickie and what you did with the weave. Darling.

Do have a very merry Christmas! Can’t wait to see what you share with us in 2016!
