Hi All!
Welcome to the next monthly Challenge! This month is about monochromatic cards… cards with one main color. You can include any neutral you want (black, white, brown, kraft, etc.), but you should stick with one actual color for the card. You can also use multiple tones of the color you choose.
The last day to submit your entry is Friday, August 31st, 11:59pm CT. One random winner will be selected from all entries and announced on Saturday, September 1st.
The giveaway will be a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp, one of my favorite stores!
Okay, just to recap the main rules:
- Use a single color in your card.
- You can submit as many entries as you like! However, please submit only one entry per card.
- After submitting your entry, leave a comment on the entry just before yours.
- Leave more comments on entries, if you’re so inclined. 🙂
- To be eligible for a prize, you must be an active member of LiveLoveCards at the time the winner is announced and your card must have been made in the current month.

I chose purple for today’s card:
I used Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink, which allows you to get a unique, interesting look with multiple layers. My sentiment is popped up in the middle using craft foam. Here is a close-up:
Have fun with the challenge. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

I liked the way your card turned out too. But I wonder if you would not have got about the same effect without going to the additional effort to pop up the sides with fun foam. Also, I would appreciate you telling me how you manage not to have the little pieces of gum stay on your sequins or whatever when you use the pick-me-up stick. It seems to happen to me more times than not and I wonder if you or anyone else has had this same problem and learned how to overcome it.

Connie, I feel your pain with the Pick Me Up stick! I never could get mine to work “right.” I finally gave up and got a Marvy Jewel Picker (mostly because it was cheap), which worked OK at first–until the larger end lost its stick & I never could get it sticky again. 🙁 I finally found a Ninja Katana Crystal tool at a nearby Hobby Lobby. It was $24.99 there, but I was able to save $10 with a coupon. It works SO well! Just the right amount of stick, and I guess, since I’ve kept it in its case when I’m not using it, it seems to be staying tacky. It doesn’t have any goo that comes out, either, so nothing to stick to your sequins, gems, etc. when you put them down. I’m not sure if that would help you, though, since I don’t know what sort of craft stores you may have nearby. I know Amazon sells the Ninja tool, but you pay more of course, since there isn’t a coupon. 🙁 Anyway, I wish you good luck in your quest for no pieces of gum! 😺 ~ Andrea

I’m getting one! They’re available here but a little pricey. You and I seem to have the same problems with stuff and so I reckon it will work better for me too. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Connie. I have not experienced that issue with mine. I’m glad Andrea responded with her tips! Thank you Andrea!

I’m glad you persisted, too, Darlene! I love the look of that background. I think what really helped flatten out your paper when you added the craft foam was the addition of more liquid (glue)–which probably helped stretch the paper fibers again–plus the pressure of the acrylic block. I’m sure the foam didn’t hurt either, since it gave the paper something to adhere to. Anyway, just something to keep in mind. I really like how you did the “thanks,” too. Such a cool idea to pop just the middle of the word up so it’s even with the sides. Thank you so much for sharing this! Have an awesome day! 😺 ~ Andrea

Darlene, I was waiting for you to “smoosh” the paper around rather than just tapping it in spots. might that have helped? I do like the raised portions of the card! Just another neat way to add character to a card! BTW…I use a small acrylic block to hold down my sequins after gluing them as I found the pick me up stick didn’t lay them flat sometimes. Now my sequins are adhered well and flat! 😎

I’m late to the party on this one. I’ve had a month of different visitors at my house then my iPhone died so I’ve been updating it. I can’t get the videos to work on my PC anymore So was having serious LLC withdrawals. Lol. This card has lovely dimension and interest, it’s hard to get those oxides to work sometimes. Mine look a bit “ hot mess” until they don’t and then are workable again. I think the keep going rule is very apt with any watercolour it seems to really has a mind of its own. Looking forward to seeing all the entries this month
