August Challenge: In the Sky!

August Challenge

We’re reaching high in the August challenge – to the sky! Birds, rainbows, rain, sunshine, butterflies, bees, clouds… anything higher than ground. Yes, it includes owls and flying pigs. 🙂

The last day to submit your entry is Thursday, August 31st, 11:59pm CT. One random winner will be selected from all entries and announced on Friday, September 1st.

SimonSaysStamp Gift Voucher
The giveaway will be a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp, one of my favorite stores!

Okay, just to recap the main rules:

  • Your entry must include things in the sky.
  • You can submit as many entries as you like! However, please submit only one entry per card.
  • After submitting your entry, leave a comment on the entry just before yours.
  • Leave more comments on entries, if you’re so inclined. 🙂
  • To be eligible for a prize, you must be an active member of LiveLoveCards at the time the winner is announced and your card must have been made in the current month.

Since monsters don’t exist (at least I hope), I can put them in the sky if I want. 🙂 Mine is peaking over the clouds:

In the Sky

I used Copic markers in the background, similar to how I used them on this card, fading out to light. If you don’t have Copic markers, you can use a sponge dauber and some ink to create “sun rays” from bottom to top.

I added some glossy accents to his eye. Here is a close-up:

Enjoy the video. I look forward to seeing your challenge entries!

When pigs fly
When pigs fly
Well, Darlene did say that flying pigs count! These cute MFT pigs make such a cute card! I colored them with copics and use a cloud punch to mask clouds in the sky. The hill is just a curved die and I drew in the grass.
Inspire

I used Catherine Pooler's Birds of a Feather stamp set and a Penny Black Die called Feline. I love how the cats are gazing up at the birds.
Solar Eclipse 2017!
Solar Eclipse 2017!
Copic coloring and distress inks. Stamps from Mama Elephant, Lawn Fawn, and Teresa Collins. I made cutesy glasses for my critters, but I know sunglasses are not proper protection for eyes when observing a solar eclipse.
Cherish

Couldn't resist adding another that I made today from Catherine Pooler's Birds of a Feather stamp set.
When in doubt, look up
When in doubt, look up
I cut the branch & bird on my Pazzle Inspiration. I colored the brach & birds with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I used a cloud stencil & faded jeans oxide ink for clouds & sentiment (embossed with clear powder).
I love you to the moon & back!
I love you to the moon & back!
I cut the spinner track, rocket ship, earth & moon on my Pazzle inspiration. For the galaxy background I used distress ink & blending tools to create. The sentiment is hand lettered. I added a sparkle spray & some Spectrum Noir Shimmer pen.

I made this card for my niece's baby shower. Thought it might also work for this challenge.
Thank You
Thank You
I needed to make a Thank You card so decided to go for the same Wplus 9 bird again. Colored with zig markers, popped on dimensionals onto a circle of DP and a music embossed panel. I added a thank you charm with some hand stitching. TFL.
Going Away Card
Going Away Card
I made this card for my mom to give to a friend of hers who is moving and starting a new job. I colored the "Scribbly Birds" stamp by Dina Wakley with Tombow Markers, and fussy cut it out. For the background, I spread molding paste over a stencil, and spritzed it with Heidi Swapp Color Shine mists before removing the stencil. The greeting is 2 of the Tim Holtz "Small Talk" stickers. Tfl! 🙂

I made this card for my niece. I recently bought this die and wanted to use it for her card. Wasn't sure if it qualified for the challenge but thought I would post anyway.
Flying High Birthday Card

This is made with Stampin Up products including the stamp sets called Sky is the Limit and Watercolor Wash.
Flying Panda Baby Card
Flying Panda Baby Card
This is made with my favorite set that Darlene uses, Happy Pandas! The background is Shimmer Sheets embossed with a nautical design, the ribbon is from Michael's and the balloons are cut with an old die. The color on the balloons was scrap leftover from using Color Burst powders.
Happy New Home Card
Happy New Home Card
This card was made with SU Holiday Home (house and trees) stamp set and dies, the cloud embossing folder and the balloons were cut with an sizzix oval die and I used the owl punch for the knots.
Wild Horses Dashing Across the Night Sky
Wild Horses Dashing Across the Night Sky
This is one of the new Stampendous Laurel Burch stamps. I used Copic markers to colour it, added some Stampin Up linen thread, and adhered it to Stampin Up Night of Navy card stock. The stars were created with a Uni Posca Marker in white because it has a very fine tip and doesn't fade as a gel pen often does. I enjoyed making this card so much that I'm going to make another one for my hubby's Father's Day card!

I agree these monsters in this stamp set are really cute and so is your card. I like your colour combination of green and purple. I also like the effect you get by using a flicking motion to apply the colour.

Don’t know why the last sentence of my comment above was included because I didn’t write it! Very strange.

The sentence keeps coming up – Your comment is awaiting moderation. But I didn’t write this sentence. Maybe it will disappear in time. This has never happened to me before and is very strange.

Hi Connie. Did it disappear? I don’t see it, and your comment didn’t need moderation. Very odd.

Hi Darlene, Yes it disappeared within a few minutes. I agree it was strange.

Darlene, your little monster is just adorable! And I am glad to see I am not the only one who occasionally leaves the masking on the stamp! Lol

Haha! )ow many times have I done that! Love these little monsters too. I think I would have stamped the Rawsome in green, but I like the fact that you colored it! Great card…I have to get going on my entry! 😎

I think that leaving the mask on to stamp is pretty much universal! I’ve done it more times that I like to admit! I must confess that I see an alligator every time I look at the little guy. The eye is his nose and the purple accents on his antenna are his eyes! Maybe it’s because I live in Florida.
