Acetate Puppy

Acetate Puppy

Hi All!

Today’s card has an acetate base, which made it incredibly hard to photograph! I kept seeing my reflection in the acetate. Here is a view from above:

And here is the inside:

I call all of my dogs “puppies”, not “dogs”. I have 3 puppies – Daisy (17), Lucy (8), and Roxy (almost 1). Here is what they do all day while I work in my office:

Dogs

Ah, what a life. Enjoy the video!

The acetate base gives the card a really clean look. I’d like to try to use it but was wondering just how hard it is to manage. Could you please let me know?! I think that the “You Make My Tail Wag” set still has the cutest dog stamps on the market. Loved those photos of your 3 pooches too. They sure do have a dog’s life!

Hi Connie! What do you mean by “manage”? It’s very easy to cut in the trimmer, and it creases easily. It’s a little hard to see when you’re trying to line things up, but if you put some cardstock behind it like I did in the video, it’s not too bad. Does that help?

Yes it does help. Thanks! When I said manage, I meant how does it handle. Being acetate, I thought it might be slippery to handle in relation to actual card-stock and so be harder to manage. But from all indications, that shouldn’t be an issue. So I’ll give it a go!

Love this! And yes, a dog that is loved is ALWAYS a “puppy”. I guess non-dog people don’t understand that!

Love the card. All my dogs have been โ€œpups.โ€ Is one a greyhound?

No, they are all mixed breeds. The black and white is 1/3 dalmatian and 2/3 combo of 5 different dog types. The little black one is 1/4 chihuahua, 1/4 shih tzu, 1/4 chow, and 1/4 unknown. My husband got Courtney and me dog DNA tests for Valentine’s day. The gray one hasn’t been tested because we only got 2 kits. ๐Ÿ™‚

This puppy looks a lot like my (late) Molly :(. I did notice that the paw on the left of the front of the card is white, but the corresponding area on the back is brown? Is he (she) one of those “unique” two colored dogs?? I LOVE this card!

That’s ok- mistakes like that make it a one-of-a kind card, and people know it s hand made. If anybody ever asks me about a “mistake” I just tell them it’s supposed to be like that ๐Ÿ™‚

That is such a cute card! I’ve started my own Youtube channel, JAC Design – Youtube (with the icon being my silhouette in a circle.) Hope it’s okay for me to mention that; if not, just delete it.
I first found you on Youtube and am glad that I’m still following you. (After all, I do just live down the highway from you! ๐Ÿ™‚ )
And, I call dogs “puppies” also. Thank you for all you do.

Very cute card Darlene! My son, who is 31, affectionately calls our dog โ€œpoundโ€ puppy because we adopted her from the rescue shelter. She is a very sweet lab mix and was the runt of the litter.

This is such a cute card, Darlene. I like the way you think about the details of your cards, like adding the top to the fence as a finishing touch. Love it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I have got to buy that wood stamp…every time you use it, I think this. lol

    Thanks for sharing!

Really cute card, Darlene, though I think it would look even better with a cat! LOL Seriously, I know Hero Arts makes acetate card bases like this, but I could never justify buying them when I wasn’t sure I’d use them up. I’ve wondered about making my own, since I have the Hot off the Press heat resistant acetate and the Grafix Duralar acetate (forget which weight/thickness of that one, though). Yours looked like it came out pretty nicely without too much effort. I might try making my own card base now. Thank you so much for sharing this, even if it was hard to photograph! ๐Ÿ˜บ ~Andrea

Oh this is way too cute… and I don’t have that stamp set … may try to replicate using different stamps.

Darlene, Here is an unusual question, what dog food do you give your dogs. Do you feed your dogs the IAMS dog food. If you do, you may consider changing their dog food. My healthy dog, after eating from a newly opened bag of IAMS dog food, got violently sick, throwing up and pooping all at the same time, had trouble breathing and then suddenly died. So many people are having the same problem with this IAMS food. Apparently they have changed their recipe and something is horribly wrong with it. My heart is in a million pieces now as my best friend, my constant companion is gone…

Amelia, I am so, so sorry. That is absolutely terrible! My dogs eat Purina Pro. I hope IAMS fixes their issues, and they definitely need to pull their food from the shelves! After a quick Google search, it appears that they have had issues with their food several times over the years. I’m sorry that you and your puppy were victims. My heart goes out to you, as I know how important our pets are to us. Hugs to you.

Absolutely awesome card and those puppies are adorable! One can tell by the photo that they love scrapping with their mommy!

Hi Mary Jane. She is actually kind of funny-looking. She’s dark gray except for a the long lion’s mane she has around her head (including a beard!), which is very light gray.
